Back to Inspection & Maintenance
When gear is shifted while the air pressure is low, “TM AIR PRESS TOO LOW” or “T/M SYSTEM FAILURE” indications may appear or the gearshift may not operate properly.
In addition, if the vehicle is driven when the air pressure is low, equipment other than T/M applying air pressure including brakes may not operate properly and would be very dangerous.
Below are representative examples related to low air pressure. Please make use of these examples and check the air pressure gauge in the instrument panel and measure the time of air pressure build-up at all times in your daily operation for your safety and comfort.
This kind of information (indications and warning, etc.) are available in your Owners handbook.
[ Important Remarks ]
Please also be reminded that the owner of the truck is fully responsible for proper inspection and maintenance. Owner’s Handbook and/or Service Booklet is the guidebook for this purpose. When inspection and maintenance are performed, results must be recorded in the Owner’s Handbook and/or Service Booklet which is to be used as a lifetime logbook of the vehicle. MFTBC reserves the right to void any warranty if the periodical inspection designated by MFTBC is not carried out according to the MFTBC guideline.
After you load cargo, please check the air pressure gauge for sufficient brake air pressure (refer to Table 1) before driving, since the air suspension consumes substantial air to adjust the height of the vehicle. Especially when the cargo is loaded while the engine is stopped, make sure to check the sufficient brake air pressure after you start the engine before driving.
When the air pressure gauge indicates brake air pressure is low, do not drive immediately but build up enough air pressure (refer to Table 1) before running. If the air pressure does not rise after a while, there may be air leaking. In such case, please contact an authorized MITSUBISHI FUSO distributor or dealer
This indications show that the air pressure used to control the transmission has decreased. If the indication goes off after taking the steps described below, you can drive the vehicle, however, please check the air pressure gauge for sufficient brake air pressure (refer to Table 1) before driving.
Press the brake pedal and immediately stop the vehicle in a safe place. If the indications do not go off after a while, contact an authorized MITSUBISHI FUSO distributor or dealer. If you wish to stop the engine, first, to place the gearshift lever in the “N” position and check that the gear position indicator shows “N”.
If the indications appear when the engine is started, do not drive the vehicle until they have gone off. If you wait a while but the indications do not go off, contact an authorized MITSUBISHI FUSO distributor or dealer.
To place the gearshift lever in the “N” position. When the gear position indicator shows “N”, start the engine. If the gear position indicator does not show “N”, contact an authorized MITSUBISHI FUSO distributor or dealer.
Never drive the vehicle when the warning lamp is illuminated or when the needle deflects into the “low brake air pressure” red zone or is indicated. After the warning lamp goes off check the air pressure gauge for sufficient brake air pressure (refer to Table 1) before driving.
This warning indication shows that there is a malfunction in the electronic controls of the INOMAT-II system. If the indication goes off after taking the steps described below, you can drive the vehicle, however, please check the air pressure gauge for sufficient brake air pressure (refer to Table 1) before driving.
Immediately press the brake pedal and stop the vehicle in a safe place.
Place the gearshift lever in the “N” position, then stop the engine. Restart the engine after waiting about 10 seconds. Restarting the engine may reset the computer program and the system may start working normally in some cases, but this may not take place in other cases. If you can't start the engine, warning remains displayed or if it appears repeatedly, contact an authorized MITSUBISHI FUSO distributor or dealer.
